The text used is rather small but is very clear, IT is the largest text and is bright red, red connotations are, blood, fire, anger and danger, IT is the monster so it makes sense to use this colour, the text for IT isn't formal, it looks as if a child has used a crayon to draw the words IT. 'You'll float too' is white, the connotations for white are innocence, purity and light, this is used because the main protagonists are young children.

There aren't any star names in this poster, except for the antagonist which is IT, it is also the name of the film.

The tagline 'You'll float too.' is a very powerful tagline, it is very memorable, it is a chilling tagline as the poster implies that it is talking about the children, also it relates to the poster as Pennywise is holding a balloon, which balloons float and he is trying to hand the balloon to the child, the balloon is a metaphor for the tagline, 'You'll float too' as we can guess this means that it is linking with death, your spirit floats out of your body or you float to heaven.

Language and mode of address, the text IT is very sinister looking, telling the audience that the film is a horror, it is also very clear its a horror movie. Due to the text being red 'IT', it can tell the viewer that it is danger.

The key image is an innocent child and the antagonist, Pennywise the clown. From this post it already gives away the narrative and the plot, you can see Pennywise's face in the balloon, he has a very Sinister, a very horrifying face, a clown is a lot of peoples fear, the child who is walking towards the clown is looking up at the balloon and has no idea what lies behind the balloon. Also, it is very clear to see that the clown (Antagonist) is submerged in this darkness/fog, this really hides his identity and lets the audience know this is danger, something submerged in darkness brings in primal fears, darkness and the unknown. The image shows that the child's leg is lifted meaning he is walking towards the balloon even though he has no idea what danger is ahead, it also shows on the floor he looks to be in a street with the puddles on the floor, this could be suggesting that being in the open is safety but entering the darkness results in death.

The narrative suggests that the child in the image will carry on walking towards the figure in the mist and take the balloon, due to children not being so smart and not reading the signs of danger we can assume this will happen to more than one child, but not to adults because there aren't any in this poster.

Due to the child walking towards the balloon, we are then intrigued to find out what will happen next, although it is rather obvious he is in danger and doing this something bad will happen, although since this child is doing this we can only wonder if every other kid in the film will be the same and what kind of danger they will be in.

The visual codes are very clear in this poster, and we can also easily tell this film is associated with horror because, we have a very dark setting, there is a lot of mist and darkness which surrounds one character, we can assume this means that this could be a dark entity or antagonist. The dark balloon instantly gives us the impression this is a horror, it is a bright red balloon, red cane taken as danger, fear etc. but not only that we have a very sinister looking clown behind the balloon, clowns are also a lot of people's fears.

The text is directly under the main image, it is very large and bold, for me this is the second part of the poster I am drawn to, instantly reading the title of the film tells me that this film may be intense, also the main character could be trapped, either held captive or mentally. The whole poster is black and white, black has some very powerful meanings behind it, such as a sense of power, evil, mystery or death, the choice of using this is rather powerful and will give the audience the clear message that the person in the main image isn't free, possibly trapped and afraid.

The only star names which are included on the poster is the director, Jordan Peele, this can draw in an audience who is a fan of his work, Key and Peele, Keanu, these are the most successful pieces of work he is involved in. The company name at the top will definitely draw a large audience in, Blumhouse, the producers of The Visit, Insidious and The Gift, each very successful in attempting to revive the horror genre and bring it back to be a very popular genre to watch.

The film tag line is very memorable and gives a very powerful message. "Just because you're invited, doesn't mean you're welcome." The audience can take this as the main character is "invited" however their fate is uncertain as they aren't "welcome" to wherever they are going.

The main image is an extreme close up of the main characters face, from only the eyes his face around them we can see he looks very stressed and afraid, this is very powerful to an audience member if they don't know anything about the film as we can now understand this film will contain the factors of horror but we don't know what. The main image is his face and we can see he has a black skin tone, his bright white eyes stand out completely.

His face alone intrigues the audience to find out what he is looking at, how terrifying can it be, is it a supernatural force or a person, Get Out also will make us wonder, what will he be trying to get out of, is he held captive or has our main character wondered into somewhere we know he shouldn't be?

The visual codes are very clear, big bold text, a small dark image in the centre, looking at this in a racial perspective, the white completely overpowers the black throughout the whole poster, the white surrounds the black, in the film this could be very important and may give the audience a message about race, potentially that in the film white is more superior to black.

The text is at the bottom, both in solid white and red, white being pure, innocent and good, whereas red is associated with danger, power and blood, this could be used as two opposites or two sides of the story, one being a good, friendly side and the other having a dark turn. Also at the top of the poster it mentions about it being in the same universe as The Conjuring, another horror movie which the text is also in red.

The films tagline is "You don't know the real story.", because this is the next chapter after The Conjuring, we can take what we know from that film and apply our knowledge to this film, however this tagline is telling us that what we already know could be all wrong. It intrigues the audience who are interested in this film universe to go watch the film to then expand our knowledge on the film universe.

The main image is very interesting, we can take a lot from it, firstly we can notice that this house which we can assume the little girl lives in is very isolated, it looks to be made out of wood, implying that this film is set a long time ago, the little girl which we can assume is the main character is also holding a very old lamp also pushing the idea its set a while ago. The little girl is dressed in a white dress, so is the doll and this can show innocence and purity which is what we associate with children anyway, she is standing in front of what seems to be a well, begging the question why is she there, could she possibly throw the doll down there or maybe herself? The image is all very gloomy and dull, there isn't any bright colours, the moon is submerged in the clouds, all together this instantly giving off a horror, mystery vibe.
