Magazine Cover

Here are two magazine covers, which are the same but both have small features which I feel make a huge difference, the top cover is the one I wish to recreate using my own images, I feel it is the better one of the two, this is because the title 'WICKED' and the bar along the bottom are overlapping the white border, this gives the image a 3-D effect, it also makes the magazine cover look more professional. The main image also has a nice drop shadow around the top and right of the cover, again giving the 3-D feel. The second version does not have the same 3-D effect, all of the content is inside the main image and nothing overlaps the border. I decided to go for a Hammer Horror theme magazine, they are classic so I thought with my film idea it would fit perfectly, the title is very large and over the top I feel it also can resemble the stereotypical, old magazine feel, sort of a Frankenstein, large, crooked title.
Also using large, clear text is rather simple but suits the style of magazine I am trying to create.

The next objective would be to now use our own images instead of those I have used in the cover, they are from the internet, I used these images for a rough idea of what I am trying to achieve, we have our location which we can use to set for our background, if not then we will take pictures of us in our costumes over a green screen to put over a setting.

To improve my magazine cover, obviously I will need to use my own images, for the circle in the top right with the text, I decided to quickly erase small lines inside it to try and create an effect of it being broken, corrupt, however I don't think I have done a good job of this, it requires more time and attention to detail, this goes the same for for the bar across the bottom, where there is more text.
